Current Projects
Wildlife Utilisation Raises Community Standards, Malawi
ICCE has been working with the Wildlife & Environmental
Society of Malawi (WESM) on a six-year programme to improve the quality
of life of villagers living in the lakeside communities in Mangochi
District. The programme was funded by the UK Community Fund (formerly
the National Lottery Charities Board); and activities include establishing
tree nurseries, bee-keeping, rearing guinea fowl and improving vegetable
growing.
ICCE has just funded the construction of an Enterprise
Building and has sent out a number of sewing machines; assistance is
also being given to AIDs orphans in the area.

Environmental Publishing Unit, Malawi
ICCE is assisting WESM to operate an Environmental Publishing
which is responding to the need for a specialised design and publishing
service for organisations involved in sustainable development in Malawi.
A new EPU Office at WESM HQ in Limbe is now fully operational under
the direction of Makhunya Bingolosi - WESM's graphic designer.
Eco-Congregation Programme, UK
ICCE is working with Bethesda Methodist Church in Cheltenham
which has signed up to the National UK Eco-Congregation Programme. Following
a thorough environmental audit, the church embarked on a six month programme
to raise the level of its green credentials. This involved establishing
"ten green commandments" including a "traidgreen"
initiative, discussing green issues in house groups and organising a
special Conservation Sunday. The church received the national award
for its efforts in June 2003. For more details visit www.bethesda-church.org.uk.
